When asked why he makes time for regular body maintenance as part of his training routines here is what he said: “I make time for regularly body maintenance after training for years with very little care for my body. At a younger age you can get away with it less but now the years of training have caught up with me. After picking up a back injury last year I now realised that regular mobility, stretching and body maintenance is a must for anyone who regularly trains in any sport. If only I had realised this at a younger age, it may have prevented the injuries that I picked up along the way.”
RECREATIONAL CROSSFIT ATHLETE
Kirsten has been doing CrossFit for the past 6 and a half years during which time she quickly developed a love for the sport and her competitive nature shone through! As well as participating in CrossFit recreationally she is also a much loved CrossFit coach at The Athlete Center Didcot in addition to her full time job. In addition to CrossFit, Kirsten still enjoys horse riding and leading a very active lifestyle outside of the gym.
During 2020 Kirsten is signed up to compete in both Strength in Depth Affiliate Cup and The European Championships so far and also hopes to qualify for the German Throwdown Sanctional.
Kirsten classes one of her biggest CrossFit achievements to date as competing in the CrossFit Sanctional event, Filthy 150, as part of an Elite Team and sharing the competition floor with CrossFit Games Athletes which she found completely inspiring.
When asked why she makes time for regular body maintenance as part of her training routines here is what she said: “For years I neglected all body maintenance; I ended up with persistent niggles & injuries which I 'trained through' and as a result still now suffer long term repercussions. I know now that training & competing at the intensity I do I need look after myself better if I want to stay injury free, perform at my best & most importantly still be able to enjoy it!”
