WHAT HAPPENS DURING MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?
During your first appointment you will be asked to complete a Client Record Form providing contact details, lifestyle/medical history and further specific information about your reasons for visiting me and the condition. A consultation will then take place, including an assessment of your posture and the condition. A variety of tests may be used to determine the root cause. An initial treatment will be provided based on the results of the assessment and follow up advice will be given.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?
You will be covered using towels during your session, however it is advisable to wear loose fitting/freely moveable clothing. For the purposes of assessment and treatment you will be required to dress down, I would therefore advise that you wear loose fitting or lycra type shorts and for ladies a normal bra is preferable to a sports bra.
I DON'T PLAY SPORTS, CAN I STILL HAVE A SPORTS MASSAGE?
Overuse injuries can occur in everyday life and are generally brought on by the things we do repetitively everyday. We will use sports massage to treat you and look at what day to day activities could be the cause and will give you simple solutions to help with this. Generally making a few small changes can have a big effect.
Sports and Remedial Massage treats both athletic and sedentary people. This type of massage treats soft tissue tension and dysfunction and if therefore suitable for everyone.
DOES SPORTS MASSAGE HURT?
Sports and remedial massage is more invasive than normal therapeutic massage, as it is more specific and in some cases a much deeper massage. I will use a whole range of techniques to align scar tissue; muscle tension; trigger points and to stretch and realign muscle fibres. At times it may be uncomfortable, but it is nothing to worry about. I will constantly communicate with clients to assess their comfort levels and explain what I am doing and why.
It is normal to feel a little sore or tender in areas treated the day after treatment as well, this is due to the soft tissue being worked during our session, much like experiencing DOMs after exercise.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE A SPORTS MASSAGE?
Regular treatment is advisable, once a month is a standard recommendation for optimum performance and maintenance. However, it does depend of the type of condition you are suffering from and your activity levels/training regime.
You only have one body during a lifetime so looking after it should be a priority for all!
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
Should you need to reschedule your appointment please do try to do so at least with 48 hours notice. You may contact me directly or if you have booked online you can reschedule yourself through the same method.
If you need to cancel your appointment please do provide more than 24 hours notice. Any appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at least 50% of the booking fee. If you do not turn up for your appointment and do not provide any notice the full amount will be charged.
Should you cancel any appointment with less than 24 hours notice or not turn up for an appointment and wish to book in future a 50% deposit will be required to secure your booking.
